Yup talking about none other than the pick chucking, dog fucking, Philadelphia phenomenon. Now, I'm not get into the whole dog abuse aspect of this guy. I mean, yea. That shit was fucked up. This dude has no sole. But, that's not what has got me going today. As I was sitting at work, bored, per usual, I came across a Yahoo article stating that Vick "has redefined the QB position."
Are you fucking kidding me Yahoo? Didn't we go over this 8 years ago when he was a rookie and everyone was all "oh shit! He's a QB but he ran the ball! He's unstoppable in Madden!!" Remember that? Remember how it all worked out the first time? Exactly. Vick went on to have overhyped, mediocre year after mediocre year....then he killed some dogs. Now, I'm not gonna be ignorant and pretend that Vick didn't have a great year last year. The fact is that he played very well. However, lets look at this statistically. Last year marked only the second time in his career that he cracked a QB rating of 80. The first time he did it he barely cracked the mark at 81.6. Last year also marked the first time that Vick has thrown for 3,000 yards. Obviously when you talk about Vick you have to include rushing yards, but even with those, Vick has never accounted for over 4,000 total. If you look at the top 5 Qb's who represent "traditional" QB's (Peyton, Brady, Rivers, Rodgers, and Breese), they have all enjoyed a 4,000 yard season. Lets also look at total TD's (passing and rushing). Last year marked the first time that Vick has reached the 30 mark by hitting on the button. Our traditional Qb's have career highs of 49, 52, 34, 36, and 35 respectively while all enjoying multiple 30-plus years.
Let's delve into this revolutionary QB style a little more shall we? Vince Young.....now a backup. Seneca Wallace?? yea he's good at sitting down........Tavaris Jackson? ask Brett Favre about how good he is.....
Granted, Vick only played 12 games last year. Some would say that this year, given a full season, his stats will improve even more. However, if I were a betting man, aka Perm, I would bet all my winnings at Foxwoods that Vick sees a drastic drop off in production.
Now don't even get me started on all these fucking people who swear that he's different now and is a better person. Honestly, first time ever that 98.5 the Sports Hub's own Michael Felger was right on the money. Its clearly a fucking show. He couldn't give two shits about what he did in the past. Hes making a shit ton of money. The only difference is now he knows if he does it again hes fucked.....doggy style.
